Position Overview

 

We are looking for a proactive and reliable Electrical Apprentice to support our maintenance and facilities team. The role involves assisting with electrical installations, preventative maintenance, safety checks such as PAT testing and Legionella prevention, and general site maintenance across both office and industrial areas. The ideal candidate will have a willingness to learn, good attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced engineering environment.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

• Assist with preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment, including conveyors, motors, pumps, valves, and other machinery.
• Support electrical installations, including conduit work, wiring systems, and sub‑distribution boards.
• Carry out routine safety checks including PAT testing, fire alarm testing, and Legionella prevention tasks.
• Help diagnose electrical and mechanical faults using appropriate testing instruments.
• Assist with servicing and replacing worn or damaged mechanical parts.
• Prepare work areas, manage tools, and support qualified engineers during maintenance tasks.
• Maintain accurate logbooks, records, and documentation in line with company and compliance standards.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with Health & Safety and EHS requirements.
• Support general site maintenance across both office and industrial areas.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and help maintain a safe, well‑organised working environment.

 

 

Core Skills

 

• A strong interest in electrical engineering or maintenance; previous hands‑on experience is beneficial but not essential.
• Good organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with other team members.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy environment and manage multiple tasks when required.
• Basic IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
• A willingness to learn about safety procedures, electrical systems, and compliance requirements.
• Proactive approach to problem‑solving and a positive attitude towards developing new skills.
• Ability to work independently under guidance, as well as part of a wider engineering team.
